1. Child retells events of the death and funeral or never mentions death to friends.

2. Child becomes disruptive in class.

3. Child says he/she cannot concentrate or complete work assignments.

4. Child instigates fights.

5. Child rejects old friends.

6. Child becomes the “class clown.”

7. Child is preoccupied with the medical cause of the person's death.

8. Child spends more time alone.

9. Child may become overly sensitive and tearful.

10. Child drops out of school activities.

11. Child assumes role of the person who died.

12. Child wants to phone home often during school hours.
